International Posting Guide

For clients in the USA, Canada, Australia & Europe

Thank you for choosing to send your knit to my studio.
This guide keeps the process simple, safe and stress-free, wherever you are in the world.

1. Packing Your Knit (Important)

To protect your garment during transit, please pack it as follows:

1. Fold the knit neatly
Avoid sharp folds or stretching.

2. Place it in a clean plastic bag
Protects it from moisture and dust.

3. Use a padded envelope or small box
Choose whichever feels more secure for your specific garment.

4. Include a note inside with:

  • Your full name

  • Return address

  • Email

  • Description of the alteration/repair

(This prevents issues if labels become damaged during transit.)

2.Choosing a Courier

Please choose a courier that offers:

  • Tracked shipping

  • Signed delivery

  • Optional insurance for designer/sentimental pieces

Recommended couriers by region:

USA

• USPS Priority Mail International
• UPS
• FedEx

Canada

• Canada Post Xpresspost
•UPS

Australia

• Australia Post International Standard
•DHL

Europe

• PostNL / DPD / Colissimo / Deutsche Post / GLS
• DHL (reliable across EU)

Express services are optional — standard tracked is usually sufficient.

3.Customs Form Wording (Very Important)

For non-UK countries outside Europe, use the following:

Item description:
“Used knitwear for repair and return only — no commercial value.”

Value:
£20 (or the lowest acceptable value)

Reason for export:
“Temporary export for repair — will be returned to sender.”

Important note for European customers (EU countries):

Post-Brexit, EU parcels also require customs forms.
Use the SAME wording:

Description:
“Used knitwear for repair and return — no commercial value.”

Value:
€20 (or equivalent)
This avoids unnecessary import charges.

4.Sending Your Parcel

Once dispatched, please email me:

  • your tracking number

  • the courier used

  • (optional) a quick photo of the package

I confirm as soon as it arrives safely at my studio.

5.Returning Your Garment

Your knit will be shipped back via a tracked and insured service.

Postage costs (both ways) are covered by the customer.

You will receive:

  • tracking details

  • estimated delivery timeframe

  • confirmation once posted
